Rules of Conduct
The aim is to provide a good days sport in a manner which brings new riders to club, grows interest in the classic scene and makes the competitors go home feeling happy and when looking at the result, feel that it reflects a fair outcome of their day and they have been marked fairly and consistently.
Please remember that our event can only take place due to the kindness of our volunteer observers who apply their knowledge and best judgement to the scoring.
For Club level events we follow the following rules
Bike enters the section at the front spindle and exits at the rear spindle
Bike must maintain forward motion at all time. No stopping, balancing or hopping is allowed in any class
NOTE – for Beginner / Clubman classes, observers will apply an element of consistent flexibility whereby at a difficult part of the section, the observer may take a max 2 second count to allow the rider to foot the bike over things such as slippy roots where forward momentum may have temporarily stopped. This is to allow rider development and a sportsman like approach. We ask all observers to apply this consistently
Standard scoring as follows
Clean – section completed with no feet down and no elements that would constitute a “5”
Single mark lost – riders foot touches the ground once or body touches a vertical element such as a tree to leverage support or an advantage on one occasion and no elements that would constitute a “5”
Two marks lost – riders foot touches the ground or body touches a vertical element such as a tree to leverage support or an advantage on two occasions and no elements that would constitute a “5”
Three marks lost – riders foot touches the ground or body touches a vertical element such as a tree to leverage support or an advantage on three or more occasions and no elements that would constitute a “5”
Five marks lost – rider fails to complete section, comes to a stop (as outlined above) misses a flagged gate, falls off, rolls backwards within the section, takes external assistance, crosses its own track, has the engine stop with a foot on the ground or bike is stationary or rider dismounts bike
If a rider feels that the section is outside of their skill level, they may ask the observer to take a mandatory 5
A “baulk” can be called by the rider if the attempt on the section is impeded by another rider or the observer. In this case the observer may allow the rider to reattempt the section with the marks accrued being taken at the point where the baulk was identified
Unless agreed with the observer (and for exceptional circumstances such as making up time for a breakdown), all riders must ride the sections in the order of the numbered route and complete 4 full laps
At the start of the first lap, riders may commence the start at any numbered section to prevent initial queuing at Section 1
New riders to the club who enter a class based on their previous experience but find it too easy / difficult, may change class during the event but should remove their coloured class board and inform the observer during the first lap they have changed.
They should also inform the club officials at the end of the event. For that event the rider will show in the results but will not affect any championship scoring.
Whilst in the event, the decision of the observer is final
Once results are published, any discrepancies should be reported via the contact form or messenger.
Please do not post on the Facebook page.
The club team will verify this with the observer but the decision of the club officials will be final
